Thailand’s Continued Detention of Cambodian Prisoners of War
12 ម៉ោង មុន
Thailand’s continued detention of Cambodian prisoners of war (POWs) maybe appears to be in accordance with Common Article 2 of the Geneva Conventions insofar as a party can hold POWs until the end of the conflict; however, it does not demonstrate a good faith effort in the interests of securing peace and the cessation of hostilities. POWs must be released and repatriated without delay once active hostilities have ceased, so, in the midst of a supposed ceasefire, suggests an intention to continue the war.
